The Labs are designed for maximum flexibility with movable benches, offset sinks and ceiling mounted power/data/air flex connections. Tissue culture, storage rooms, 40% administrative office provided to create a move-in ready environment

This repositioning of a single-story concrete tilt-up building incorporates a new skin of perforated, corrugated Corten metal panels applied over the concrete walls. The translucent panels rise above the existing roof to convey a large sculptural presence and express the diagonal steel stud structure behind. New windows are added in addition to a full seismic upgrade.

This was a new headquarters for a Silicon Valley company revolutionizing liquid handling for life science research. Program included two floors of offices, conference rooms, research labs, manufacturing, shipping/receiving and cafeteria.

Located in the heart of the South San Francisco biotech center, this project includes a 5-story Lab building and a separate parking structure.

Project Features

  • 130,000 sf core/shell Lab building with central restroom and elevator core, three stairs and a central double-story entry lobby with grand staircase

  • Each floor accommodates labs, a central line of Support Lab space and administrative office space

  • The contemporary design includes maximum curtain wall, metal panels and synthetic wood paneling

  • 4-story concrete garage accommodates 265 cars and incorporates similar metal panels throughout.

  • Site Planning provides a direct connection to the City’s Rails to Trails program

85,000 sf tenant improvement to accommodate Thermage’s new corporate, Lab and manufacturing facilities located in two adjacent buildings in the Point Eden Business Park. The office building blends new and existing elements, adds new research labs and defines open office divisions. The manufacturing building includes clean room labs, instrument manufacturing, testing and warehouse distribution functions with additional office space included. Fastrack process of design and construction completed within a 6 month period. 2nd phase Interior Branding work included display, signage, artwork and furniture selection.

This three building campus, located adjacent to the Shoreline Amphitheater, is a consolidation of Alza’s separate facilities. The three 4-story buildings encompass 540,000 sf and are arranged in a pin-wheel configuration around a central court and connected by bridges. The exteriors are a combination of precast with brick veneer cladding, punched windows, and curtain wall. A 1,000 car garage sits below podium with extensive landscaping and a water feature above.
